Digipack: Initial CD disk initial research

Digipack: CD
Initial Research

CD’s were harder to research as there are few images of them. Here are some examples:

‘Birdy – Shelter’; these are 2 examples (one of a single and one of an album) from the artist of the song we are using.

Looking at other artists, we were given more variety when it came to the look of the CD. Here are some examples of similar artists we have already looked at:

These Ellie Goulding CD’s are quite similar to the previous Birdy CD’s. The format is very similar (artist name along the top of the CD, in the same font as that featured on the CD case), the visible difference is the pink.

In all, all 3 CD’s are very similar; plain colour with no added designs, artist name featured on top with the album/ single name also featured and text around the rim of the CD.

Here are some alternate examples from the artist Pixie Lott:

Again, we can see that these examples both contain bold, statement colours (the red and yellow), though they have slightly different designs/ formats.
The red CD contains a grey ‘X’ and the album track list, as well as the artist name and album title. In this example, the title and artist name aren’t much larger than the other text, therefore they don’t really stand out in comparison to the other examples.
The yellow CD draws more comparisons to the previous examples, as, format wise (in terms of the text), the positioning is the same.

All these examples are from similar artists, and they seem to follow roughly the same trend; a bold statement colour on the background (on occasion with a few extra designs), the artists name headed at the top (usually in the same font found on the cover) and text lining the rim of the CD.
